American Tapestry: Border State
American Tapestry: Border State - fencing from my parent's home in New Mexico, hair, 48”x 58”
I made this piece as a way of processing the scores of children being separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border under the Trump presidency. It seemed important to humanize the fencing in which thousands of children were being and continue to be held. It is important to see humanity and inhumanity as inherently connected to not lose sight of the vulnerabilities within the human condition.
